Smiths

The companies making domestic clocks were: Smiths English Clocks Ltd., Smiths Clocks & Watches Ltd.,
The Clocks & Watches division of Smiths Industries and Smiths Industries Clock Company Ltd.

This is not an official Smiths Industries website,
it is an attempt by one person to record some
basic information about Smiths Domestic Clocks
and make this generally available..more

I wish to express my appreciation to Smiths Group plc, who through Mr J. Flint very generously
gave permission for the use of material from their catalogues, advertisemants and publications.

"Smiths Domestic Clocks" started as a web site, but information on a website is transient in nature, here today, perhaps gone tomorrow and with this in mind I was encouraged to offer the results of my research in book form

I wanted to be sure that the information I have gathered does not get lost again, but at the same time I wanted to make it available to all so the price was set the price as low as possible. The book costs less than a pub lunch in most English pubs.

"worth buying even for the details of just one clock."

Flash!

The second edition of my book is now in print. It contains pictures and information on over 2150 models and there is an extended chapter on the majority of the movements used. It also has 70 pages of text about the company, it's origin and history and the main factories.

It is A4 sized, perfect bound with card covers and has 290 pp

An item of special interest is that in this second edition full details are given to enable most of the Smiths Enfield movements to be accurately dated.

The identification guide has been improved and when a picture has been found the caption gives both the name of the model and its date range without further look up.

As a special opening offer, if you are in the UK and buy from the publisher (see below) you can for a limited time buy the new edition for only £18 including postage. I have also prevailed on Mike, the publisher, to offer a £3 discount to overseas buyers who purchase from him before the end of July 2008.

Once the initial offer terminates the price will be £18 + £3.00 uk post packed in a padded bag. Overseas post extra at cost.
