Dealers catalogues

Smiths main dealers, Richard Tucker Nunn and Grimshaw Baxter & Elliott or, later, Tucker Nunn & Grimshaws issued catalogues of clocks which were essentially Smiths but of better quality and sold under their own names so that I have not as yet been able to include them in the book.

I would like to obtain a photocopy of *any* of those catalogues as this would be of great assistance to my continuing research

This is not an official Smiths Industries website,
it is an attempt by one person to record some
basic information about Smiths Domestic Clocks
and make this generally available..more

I wish to express my appreciation to Smiths Group plc, who through Mr J. Flint very generously
gave permission for the use of material from their catalogues, advertisemants and publications.

Information on a website is transient in nature, here today, perhaps gone tomorrow

With this in mind I have been encouraged to offer the results of my research in book form

Flash!

The second edition of my book is now in print.

It is A4 sized, perfect bound with card covers and now has a total of 290 pp

The identification guide in the new edition is in the form of a picture gallery of over 2150 models with the name of each and approximate dates for that model. In most cases the types of movement which were fitted to that model are given in a separate table.

In addition to the identification guide, the book has 70 pages of text about the company, it's origin and history, with notes and pictures of the main factories, and extensive information on the synchronous, hand wound, battery and other types of movements which were used.

It is now possible to accurately date many of the Smiths Enfield movements and so date individual clocks.Full details on decyphering these movement codes are included.

As a special opening offer, if you are in the UK and buy from the publisher (see below) you can for a limited time buy the new edition for only £18 including postage. I have also prevailed on Mike, the publisher, to offer a £3 discount to overseas buyers who purchase from him before the end of July 2008.

Once the initial offer terminates the price will be £18 +£2.50 uk post packed in a padded bag. Overseas post extra at cost.

I want to be sure that the information I have gathered does not get lost again so have set the price as low as possible.
